Outdoor Activities and Parks for Kids in HCMC

Four free outdoor options for family walks, playground time, large-scale play and late-afternoon kite flying.
Pick the outdoor space that suits your child
HCMC families can find free green spaces for a short playground visit, a long walk or a more active late-afternoon outing. The main planning factors are shade, travel time, weather and how much supervision the space requires.
The four ideas below are current KiddoGo listings with free entry. Separate attractions, food, parking or kite purchases may still cost extra.
Four free outdoor ideas
Use a shaded central playground
Tao Dan Park Playground in District 1 has mature trees, paved paths, open areas and a children's playground.
Entry is free and current public hours are listed as 07:00 to 22:00. It works well for a shorter city-centre break, but check for temporary event closures and the current playground condition.
Add a larger District 10 park
Le Thi Rieng Park / Tho Trang has lawns, paths, exercise areas and room for informal family recreation.
The park is free and currently listed from 05:00 to 22:00. Separate attractions in or around the park set their own hours and prices, so decide in advance whether your visit is only for the public green space.
Make a longer trip for large-scale play
Vinhomes Grand Park 36ha Playgrounds in Thu Duc is listed for ages 2 to 12. The development describes more than 60 linked children's play areas with swings, slides and activity zones.
Park entry is free and current hours are 05:00 to 21:30. Some specialist attractions elsewhere in the wider development charge separately.
Fly kites in the late afternoon
Ba Canh Kite Field - Free Kite Flying and Giant Kites in Hoc Mon is a wide open field used by families and specialist kite groups.
Access is free. Recent coverage shows the field busiest from roughly 16:00 to 20:00, especially on weekends. Kites are sold on site, but a regular rental service has not been confirmed.
Make outdoor time more comfortable
- Avoid the hottest part of the day. Early morning and late afternoon are usually easier for children.
- Check rain and wind. A wet playground or windless kite field can change the plan completely.
- Bring water, hats and insect protection. Shade varies within large parks and open fields.
- Stay close to younger children. Large public spaces, paths and climbing equipment need active supervision.
- Plan the return trip. Weekend parking and traffic can become busy, particularly at Ba Canh Kite Field.
Check the current listing before leaving
Open each linked KiddoGo page for the location, hours, access notes and original sources. KiddoGo reviewed these four listings between 21 and 27 July 2026; same-day conditions and temporary closures should still be confirmed where possible.
